FemMA – das Netzwerk
für Frauen in der Mathematik

An der TU Wien haben letztes Jahr 1.234 Personen die Studienrichtung Technische Mathematik studiert. Davon sind 374 Frauen*. In relativen Häufigkeiten ist das nicht einmal ein Drittel aller Studierenden. (Quelle: www.tuwien.at/tu-wien/ueber-die-tuw/zahlen-und-fakten)

Im Jahr 2022 haben sich Sandra Müller und Gabriela Schranz-Kirlinger dazu entschieden, fem*MA zu gründen – das Netzwerk der Frauen* in der Mathematik an der TU Wien. Mit den Zielen, Wissenschaftlerinnen* inklusive ihrer Forschung sichtbar zu machen, Vernetzung untereinander, über Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten zu informieren sowie die Studentinnen* zu motivieren, in die Forschung zu gehen, war fem*MA geboren.

Das Netzwerk ist also da, um Frauen* in der Mathematik zu unterstützen und mehr Frauen* für die Mathematik zu gewinnen. Dies wird durch vielseitige Veranstaltungen unter dem Studienjahr gefördert. Seien es Karriere-Coachings, Vorträge von erfolgreichen Frauen* in der Mathematik als Inspiration und Austausch oder auch das Feiern des Tages der Frauen* in der Mathematik.

Auch dieses Jahr sind ereignisreiche Events geplant mit nationalen und internationalen Gästen. Unter anderem wird die TU Wien Austragungsort des Austrian Day of Women in Mathematics sein und darf Mathematikerinnen* aus ganz Österreich willkommen heißen. Hierfür arbeitet fem*MA mit der Austrian Association of Women in Mathematics zusammen, bis es dann am 28. Februar 2025 endlich so weit ist.
